Alphabet Fund

As crazy as this may sound, I am in the process of testing out what I’d like to call, “The Alphabet Fund”.

Basically, I am creating a personal fund with the following ticker symbols:

A – Agilent Technologies
B – Barnes Group, Inc
C – Citigroup, Inc
D – Dominion Resources, Inc
E – ENI S.p.A.
F – Ford Motor Company
G – Genpact Limited
H – Hyatt Hotels Corporation
I – N/A
J – N/A
K – Kellogg Company
L – Loews Corporation
M – Macy’s Inc
N – Netsuite Inc
O – Realty Income
P – N/A
Q – Qwest Communications
R – Ryder System, Inc
S – Sprint Nextel Corporation
T – AT&T Inc
U – N/A
V – Visa Inc.
W – N/A
X – United States Steel Corporation
Y – Alleghany Corporation
Z – N/A

As you can see, there are some pretty recognizable names in this list. I want to buy an equal number of shares of each company, and track it’s performance relative to the SPY and QQQQ ETFs and see how well it does. I have a feeling that my Alphabet Fund might actually outperform both SPY and QQQQ. I will be giving regular updates on my theory — that you don’t have to be some Wall Street guru to outperform the general market.
